Our Golden Gophers are coming off a 6 – 7 (again) campaign which included a tough loss to the Iowa State Cyclones in yet another trip to the Insight Bowl. MarQueis Gray’s fumble on the game winning drive took away the gophers chances from making a roller coaster ride season a winning one. The ride began with a big overtime win in the Carrier Dome vs. Syracuse, a magical win over the Air Force to christen TCF Bank Stadium. And who doesn’t remember Decker’s unbelievable performance in a losing effort against Cal, including getting the crap knocked out of him while still making the grab for the TD and his pass to Marqueis Gray in the back of the end zone (What can’t he do?). There were big lows too. Remember the entire Badger team grasping the axe right in front of the student section? (I just cried a little) There were also back-to-back pathetic performances against Ohio State and Penn State. A nice little break from this was a Halloween night victory over Michigan State in a shootout. But the lows continued with a loss to a horrible Illinois team at home, barely beating a FCS team SDSU at home, and not scoring a point vs. Iowa after being in scoring position 5 times. Like I said; a roller coaster ride.
